Bellycasting is a fun and beautiful way to commemorate your pregnant body. Bellycasts are made using plaster-imbedded gauze molded onto the front of the body. It’s an easy process (albeit messy!) that usually takes 45 minutes to an hour, depending on the amount of detail in the pose. People use their casts as nursery decorations, wall art, bowls to hold baby clothes...you name it.
Bellycasts work best when applied directly to the skin (a lubricant is used so the plaster doesn’t stick). Undergarments may be worn, however, their outlines will show on the final cast and they will be ruined by the plaster.
Bebop offers casting service in the community space at our shop, which is upstairs and can be closed off for privacy. We can also schedule an appointment in your home in the greater Burlington/Essex area. A casting session makes a unique gift for an expecting mama!
Please feel free to call the shop at 802.288.1002 and speak with Kate if you have any questions or would like to make an appointment.
The following rates are for one casting session and bellycast. We reinforce the cast after the appointment, and you can take it home once it is completely dry (usually 24-48 hours). We can finish your cast for you (sand, smooth edges, paint with base coat, and punch holes for hanging if desired) for a $30 fee.
The casts are white, and can be decorated once they have fully dried. Kate is also available to paint/collage/creatively finish your cast for an additional fee. If you’re interested, she can sit down with you to brainstorm options.
